Without raita, curd or lassi an Indian meal is incomplete. Raita is an Indian dish made with yogurt, spice powders, herbs & veggies like onions, cucumbers & carrots. Indian raita is usually accompanied with biryani, pulao or kababs.

Chicken Raita is one of the most popular of current trending meals in the world. It is enjoyed by millions every day. It is easy, it is fast, it tastes yummy. They are nice and they look fantastic. Chicken Raita is something which I have loved my entire life.

The ingredients needed to make Chicken Raita:
  1. Prepare 150 gms boiled chicken
  2. Prepare 1 bowl curd
  3. Prepare 1 onion

We love serving this Indian Raita made with Butter Chicken, Tikka Masala and Vegetable Biryani because it adds a cooling flavor with a delicious punch from the cumin seeds. The second night we made pitas stuffed with cucumber raita leftover tandoori chicken and couscous. I used regular yogurt instead and it worked well. It wasn't as firm as it would have been if I had used the Greek Yogurt (which I knew ahead of time)..

Instructions to make Chicken Raita:
  1. In a large bowl. Add the curd add sugar and whisk it. Then add the finely chopped onion and tomatoes. Then add the shredded chicken. Add chaat masala, amchur powder, black salt, dry roast jeera powder. Mix them well. Add salt as per requirement.
  2. Now for the tadka in a pan add butter when it becomes hot add the whole jeera then add the finely chopped garlic. Saute till light brown. Then add the roughly chopped green chiles. Saute it. Now put off the flame and add the kasuri methi and kashmiri red Chile powder. Mix it. Pour it on the raitia. Mix it.

Raita is meant to accompany the strong flavors of Indian spices and the garlic/ginger/peppers used in the main dish. Garlic spoils the taste and will shorten the amount of time you can store the raita in the fridge. Squeeze in juice from one half of the lemon. Serve the Grilled Tandoori Chicken with Raita, grilled naan bread (or basmati rice) and grilled veggies. Transfer cooked skewers to a large platter and, if desired, cover.
