Hey everyone, it’s John, welcome to my recipe site. Today, I will show you a way to prepare a special dish, pesarattu / moongdal dosa. One of my favorites food recipes. This time, I am going to make it a little bit unique. This is gonna smell and look delicious.

Pesarattu is a protein packed healthy breakfast made using whole green gram and spices. It is one of the most commonly eaten Breakfasts from Andhra cuisine. In most Telugu speaking traditional households, pesarattu is eaten with this allam pachadi.

Pesarattu / Moongdal Dosa is one of the most popular of current trending foods in the world. It is appreciated by millions daily. It’s easy, it’s quick, it tastes delicious. They are nice and they look fantastic. Pesarattu / Moongdal Dosa is something which I have loved my whole life.

To begin with this particular recipe, we must prepare a few components. You can cook pesarattu / moongdal dosa using 6 ingredients and 11 steps. Here is how you can achieve that.

The ingredients needed to make Pesarattu / Moongdal Dosa:
  1. Get Moong dal
  2. Take Basmathi white rice or
  3. Get greenchilly
  4. Take ginger piece
  5. Take cumin seed (optional)
  6. Take shallots (optional)

Pesarattu dosa can be made with whole moong beans or split yellow moong lentils. I usually make Pesarattu dosa with both whole green moong dal and the split husked yellow mung lentils. The dosa made with yellow moong lentils has a texture similar to the North Indian Moong Chilla. Whereas the ones made with whole moong beans taste a bit.

Steps to make Pesarattu / Moongdal Dosa:
  1. Soak moong dal and rice overnight or atleast 6-8 hours.
  2. Make a fine paste of all the ingredients together. Dont make the batter too watery
  3. Rest it for 30 mins to 1 hour
  4. Add salt
  5. Apply oil on tawa and pour the batter and make very thin dosa.
  6. Cook on slow flame till it is crispy and brown.
  7. Add some oil around the dosa to make it more crispy.(it is not advised, due to health reasons)
  8. Dont flip the dosa, this makes the dosa loose its crispiness.
  9. You can sprinkle chopped onion on top of dosa (as we do for oothappam). this is optional.
  10. Usually accompanied with ginger chutney but white coconut chutney is also a best accompaniment
  11. A portion of uppuma kept inside the pesarattu makes it pesarettu uppuma, which is another breakfast specialty of Andra pradesh

Pesarattu, an Instant Dosa prepared with protein rich green moong dal instead of rice and urad dal, is even more healthier and easier to prepare compared with regular Dosa since batter prepared by grinding the water soaked moong beans with chilli, ginger and garlic doesn't require any fermentation. Moong Dal Dosa is a mouthwatering breakfast for everyone. Moong Dal Dosa is quick and easy breakfast. This does not require any type of fermentation so it is super quick to make. This goes well with any type of chutney or pickle.
