Besan murukku recipe was shared by my friend and this is the first time I am hearing it. Tried this besan murukku or besan flour murukku immediately to post it for Gokulashtami. This kadalai maavu murukku is easy to make with store bought rice flour and readymade besan flour.

  1. Prepare 1 cup Besan Flour
  2. Make ready 4 tbsp Rice Flour
  3. Take 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder

  5. Take 1 tsp Roasted Cumin powder
  6. Make ready 1 tsp Cumin seeds

  10. Get to taste Salt
  11. Make ready as required Oil for frying

Instant besan murukku / Kadalai maavu murukku was in my try list since last Diwali. Some people make this murukku during Gokulashtami / Krishna jayanthi too. During this lockdown period, when I was craving for some spicy murukku, I made this instant besan chakli for the first time. It came out crunchy and tasty.

Steps to make BESAN  FLOUR  MURUKKU:
  1. In a large bowl. Add Gram Flour, Rice Flour and all the ingredients. Mix it with a spoon then add salt and oil. Mix properly
  2. Add little water and knead a smooth dough
  3. Grease the murukku mould with oil, fill the dough till 3/4th of the mould.
  4. Heat oil in kadai. Once the oil is hot. Start pressing murukku mould. So that the murukku falls into preheated oil. Fry in low flame.
  5. Deep fry till golden brown. Drain in tissue paper. Like wise repeat to finish the dough. Drain in tissue paper and then store in air tight container
  6. Once it is done. Transfer to a serving plate. Decorate with roasted dry red chilli and roasted curry leaves. Crispy flavourful murukku ready to serve with hot tea.

Instant rice flour murukku is the one that uses only rice flour as the main ingredient. Usually, we add urad dal flour, besan, or pottukadalai flour for making murukku. We call this as Arisi murukku in Tamil. The murukku turned out very crispy and tasty. Mix rice flour, besan, chilli powder, salt, asafoetida and sesame seed in a bowl.
