Murukku / Chakli is one of the most popular of recent trending meals on earth. It’s enjoyed by millions daily. It is simple, it’s quick, it tastes yummy. They’re fine and they look wonderful. Murukku / Chakli is something which I have loved my whole life.

Butter murukku recipe - also known as benne murukku, benne chakli or venna murukku. Murukku is a deep fried crisp snack made with rice flour and gram flour. These are eaten through out the year and is most commonly made during festivals.

  1. Get 2 cups Rice flour
  2. Prepare 1 cup Moong dal flour
  3. Make ready 2 tsp Sesame seeds
  4. Get 2 tsp Salt
  5. Take 2 pinch asafoetida
  6. Prepare 2 tsp Red chilli powder
  7. Make ready 2 tsp Cumin seeds
  8. Prepare 200 ml Cooking oil
  9. Prepare 100 ml Hot Water

There are so many varieties of murukku, the one I am sharing here is a basic, very old and standard recipe that is followed by many South Indian women. There are so many variations of making murukku using sago, besan, wheat. Take the murukku press/ chakli maker with round shaped holes or star holes as you wish. Fill the dough and press to make shapes.

Steps to make Murukku / Chakli:
  1. Keep all the ingredients ready. Mix all above ingredients except oil. Knead well.
  2. Heat the oil in pan. Take murukku maker vessel, put dough and press in the required shape.
  3. Put pressed murukkus from dough into oil. Deep fry on sim fire and transfer to serving plate. Murukku/Chakli is ready to eat

Remember to cover the unused dough with a wet cloth always. It helps to prevent the drying. Press the murukku in the back of ladle.
