What you'll need: Long grain rice - my favorite rice to use to make this yellow rice is basmati rice, but any long-grain rice works.; Turmeric - I usually go for dried ground turmeric, but if you have fresh turmeric root and would like to use it, then grate it and add it to the rice.; Onion and garlic for extra flavor (optional). Add rice and turmeric; stir to coat. This Turmeric Rice isn't exactly what they serve, but it might be even better!

  1. Get 1 1/2 cup basmati rice
  2. Take 1 medium onion
  3. Take 1 tsp pilau masala
  4. Take 1 tbsp turmeric powder

  6. Get 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  7. Get 3 tbsp ghee
  8. Make ready 2 1/2 cups chicken stock

However, if you are just serving up plain boiled rice, then it can get boring. Add the rice, raisins, turmeric and garlic. Bring to a boil, cover and reduce the heat to low. In a heavy saucepan with a tight-fitting lid, melt the butter and add the olive oil.

  1. Melt ghee in a sufuria and add the onions and the ginger garlic paste. let cook till onions are tender. Add in the turmeric, pilau masala, salt and pepper
  2. Add in the rice and give a good mix, until well coated
  3. Add in the stock and stir.
  4. Let simmer till all liquid is absorbed
  5. Serve with your favorite stew and don't forget to enjoy!

Add onions and garlic and cook until wilted. Add broth, bay leaf, thyme, Tabasco, salt and pepper. Uncover and stir with a fork. Turmeric rice is a one pot dish made with basmati rice, warming spices & herbs. It can be served with any curry, dal or even with a raita.
