Hey everyone, it’s me, Dave, welcome to our recipe page. Today, I will show you a way to make a special dish, mincemeat. It is one of my favorites. This time, I’m gonna make it a little bit tasty. This is gonna smell and look delicious.

Mincemeat is one of the most favored of recent trending foods on earth. It’s enjoyed by millions daily. It is simple, it’s quick, it tastes delicious. They’re nice and they look wonderful. Mincemeat is something which I have loved my whole life.

Mincemeat is a traditional English treat that is usually used as filling for mince pies during Christmas, but it tastes great mixed with vanilla ice cream, as well. This recipe uses butter instead of the traditional suet, which makes this mincemeat suitable for vegetarians. Mincemeat is a mixture of chopped dried fruit, distilled spirits and spices, and sometimes beef suet, beef, or venison.

To get started with this recipe, we have to prepare a few components. You can have mincemeat using 15 ingredients and 3 steps. Here is how you can achieve it.

The ingredients needed to make Mincemeat:
  1. Make ready apple, very finely diced
  2. Make ready butter (or vegan shortening)
  3. Prepare Thompson raisins
  4. Make ready golden raisins
  5. Make ready currants
  6. Get brown sugar
  7. Get orange marmalade (I use dark)
  8. Prepare mixed citrus peel
  9. Make ready citron peel
  10. Get slivered almonds
  11. Prepare cinnamon
  12. Take ground cloves
  13. Get ground cardamom
  14. Make ready ground allspice
  15. Take brandy or rum

Mincemeat definition is - minced meat. How to use mincemeat in a sentence. I copied this from The Virginia Housewife by Mary Randolph many, many years ago. It is supposedly the recipe used by Martha Washington.

Instructions to make Mincemeat:
  1. Place all ingredients in a large stockpot. Bring to a simmer over medium-low heat.
  2. Let simmer 45-60 minutes, until the dried fruits are plum and the mixture begins to thicken.
  3. Let cool to room temperature, store in the refrigerator in an airtight container, up to 1 month,

The original recipe called for ingredients by pounds. I used the cheapest, fattiest burger I could find in place of the beef amd suet. I also use a pound of mixed candied fruit instead of the citron and peel. Supposedly this can be processed in a water bath. And that explains why very few people I know actually truly enjoy mincemeat versus simply eating it out of tradition (or being forced to so as not to offend Grandma!).
